Note di degustazione
Dark, glowing, blackish ruby. Quite volatile. Dry finish. Just this side of the Douro it's so ripe! A very opulent style of Barolo – surely a warmer site? Hint of saltiness, even mousiness, but certainly dramatic. (JR)

The 2006 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione shows wonderful richness, density and inner perfume in its dark red fruit. It is a surprisingly muscular Barolo from this site, with terrific balance and plenty of depth to support many years of cellaring. Floral, spiced notes are wrapped around the long, sensual finish. With more time in the glass the open, perfumed quality of Rocche comes through even more clearly. To be sure, this remains a powerful, austere wine in need of significant time in bottle, but it is highly promising.
Castiglione Falletto. Deep developing ruby with bright orange rim. Subdued fruit makes the oak stand out. Mocha fruit and vanilla finish. Very tannic, which saves it from looking too forced. (WS)
