Good lift and freshness with well-sculpted fruit. Quite long and even rich for this vineyard. Pleasing. Well balanced. (JR)

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru is more mineral-driven on the nose compared to the Les Chenevottes, its limestone soils tangible in the glass. It opens with subtle hints of dried mango, beeswax and quince. The palate is well balanced with fine precision, and quite tensile and more backward than its peers, yet the finish feels reassuringly long. This has great potential.
The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is one of the high points of the range, revealing aromas of lemon oil, crushed rocks, honeycomb, mandarin and white flowers. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with superb concentration, stony phenolic grip and an elegant sense of completeness. Readers looking to get a sense of this new domaine's potential should seek out this Caillerets.
