With the cream-colored label, the 2019 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia is another standout wine from one of the most collectible producers in the appellation. The wine from vintners Elena Brovia and Alex Sanchez is especially sharp, focused and polished. You get a lot of satisfaction here and sophistication too, with an amazing sense of clarity and depth. Wild berry, cassis, blood orange, iris and campfire ash emerge from the bouquet. There is drying mineral on the silky close. This is one of my favorite wines of the vintage.

The 2019 Barolo Brea Vigna Ca' Mia is a huge, powerful Serralunga Barolo. Like all the other 2019s here, it needs a ton of air to start showing well. Even so, the 2019 is naturally an infant. Dark cherry/plum fruit, cloves, licorice and dried herbs appear gradually over time. I can't wait to taste this again, maybe in another 7-10 years or so!
Youthful ruby. Balsamic, lifted nose with hints of exotic spice, but still very closed. Fresh-crushed cherry and raspberry-coulis palate with a layer of sandpapery tannins. Powerful but polished and perfectly in line with the concentrated cherry fruit. With aeration, the nose becomes more compelling while showing great depth. It’s something you will return to again and again. Amazing length, balance and generosity but cool in character. (WS)
