The 2017 Barolo Cannubi (made with organic fruit) that I tasted was not a perfect bottle. The wine shows hot-vintage aromas of dark fruit and dried cherry. The bouquet is a bit muddled and unclear (that makes me suspect the integrity of the cork), but then again, many wines from this challenging vintage show similar issues. There were 254 magnums made, along with 9,242 bottles.

The 2017 Barolo Cannubi is a bit compact and nervous in this vintage. Sweet dried cherry, red flowers, spice, blood orange, earthiness, and dried herbs open with a bit of coaxing. I would have preferred to see a bit more mid-palate pliancy, but the 2017 is nicely done just the same.
Bricky red. Smells quite mature, with undergrowth and senescent red fruit and a hint of cherry liqueur. Quite herbal in that mulchy quality. Severely tannic on the palate, something a bit like coffee but not much fruit at the core. Severe and dry on the finish. Perhaps it will surprise me? (JH)
