The Gianni Gagliardo 2018 Barolo Lazzarito Vigna Preve (with 2,224 bottles and 150 magnums made) shows medium-dark intensity with blackcurrant and plum. There is nice tart freshness in this Nebbiolo that helps to give lift and greater intensity to the bouquet. Its aromas are delivered with linear sharpness. This wine is poised for graceful aging thanks to that acidity.

Serralunga d'Alba. Lustrous ruby. A little reductive and stalky on the nose but that disappears with aeration. Hints of new oak. Embryonic, concentrated, layered and tangy on the palate with finely ground, long, chewy tannins woven into the fruit. A little rich but compelling. (WS)
Dusty, nutty red-berry aromas follow through to a medium-bodied palate with fine, fruit-coated tannins and lots of acidity to carry the finish. Nice concentration, but a bit raw just now. Give it a year. Try from 2023.
