Tasted blind, the 2011 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru sported a surprisingly floral nose, generous with buttercup and dandelion scents, later followed by fresh pear and a hint of lychee. The palate is ripe and generous with a keen line of acidity, a smear of creamy oak that perhaps covers up a touch of volatile acidity towards the finish. It's not quite in the league of Alex Moreau's other Chevalier-Montrachet released, although I suspect another 18-24 months in barrel will impart more refinement. Tasted October 2016.

A wine of pure texture the 2011 Chevalier-Montrachet captivates all the senses. Mint, lime, white flowers and Chamomile all vow for attention in a pliant, expressive wine of the highest level. The 2011 has a level of inner richness that is simply waiting in reserve. Another few years in bottle should unlock all of that potential.
