Note di degustazione
This is one of Alvina Pernot’s three bottlings from Les Folatières, from a lesser-known part of the vineyard, sandwiched between Ez Folatières and En la Richarde, with thick woodland both above and below the site. The wine shows a typically fruit-forward, expressive nose, following through to the palate – approachable in youth with its more open style. Even now, it’s hard to resist – ticking all the right boxes with its balance, tension and freshness. Lovely. Three barrels were made, aged in a third new oak. The 2022 labels are one-offs, including a dedication to their son Pâris, who was born on 1st January 2022.

Timid aromas include those of just sliced citrus, cool apple, floral and a gorgeous array of spice nuances. The medium-bodied flavors are highly sophisticated and almost painfully intense while displaying almost as much minerality and even better depth and persistence on the dry and tightly wound finale. This is first-rate and highly recommended though note that it too is going to need at least moderate keeping first. Drink 2032+
Peux Bois is a subdivision of Folatières near the top of the hill, just north of En La Richarde and not far from Chevalier-Montrachet. The Pernot family has 1.5 hectares in total here; Alvina has bottled five barrels under her own label in their elegant, slightly reductive style. The wine boasts evocative lemon peel, nectarine fruit and suggestions of flint and smoke. Although the texture suggests elegance and finesse, the wine is still substantial and broad, and there is excellent ageing potential here.
The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Peux Bois 1er Cru, which lies adjacent to En la Richards, sports a small but effective reduction on the nose. There’s good intensity and tension here with Golden Delicious scents and a touch of sea cave. The palate is very well-balanced with fine acidity. A little creamier in texture than other cuvées with a hint of dried honey on the rich yet tensile finish. Very satisfying.
