Note di degustazione
The 2011 Barolo Gramolere is a rich and darkly concentrated expression that is packed tight with black fruit and spice. This Nebbiolo has fully absorbed the warm sunshine of this hot vintage. The finish shows a higher degree of fleshiness and softness.

The 2011 Barolo Gramolere, Alessandria's one Barolo from Monforte, is a great example of this site. Sweet, balsamic-inflected aromas open up first, followed by sinewy, energetic tannins that give the wine its sense of energy. Here the flavors are darker than in Alessandria's Verduno Barolos, while the tannin and acid profile are very typical of Monforte. This is another 2011 from Alessandria that screams of terroir, something that isn't always found 2011. In a word: brilliant!
Monforte d’Alba. Mid ruby with broad orange rim. A tiny bit stewed on the nose, but not at the cost of depth. Tangy cherry fruit and wonderful grainy tannins on the palate. A little charmer that is a tiny bit hot on the finish. (WS)
Cask sample. Closed nose and notably tarry palate. Real tannic grip on the end after a certain amount of char. Pretty drying at the moment on the end. (JR)
