The 2015 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is one of the most intriguing wines of the vintage. Sweet tobacco, cedar, dried cherry, mint and licorice give the wine an attractive openness at first, but that turns out to be deceptive, as the 2015 is much tighter on the palate. More than anything else, I am impressed by the wine's phenomenal length. I imagine the 2015 will always retain a slightly mature character in its aromas and flavors, but it also has the structure to develop beautifully in bottle for many years to come. This is an especially powerful edition of the Dardi Le Rose. I loved it.

Monforte d’Alba. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Savoury nose that is still closed in terms of the fruit. Savoury and intense strawberry fruit palate with minerally hints. Powerful sandy tannins that align with the fruit on the finish. Tangy acidity only creeps up on the finish. Already fascinating but needs more age. (WS)
Deeply complex and moody aromas with a wealth of dried roses and fresh red to black cherries, as well as terracotta and fragrant spices. The palate has a core of deliciously ripe darker cherries and plums with a long, seamless and finely focused finish. Try from 2025.
