The 2007 Barolo Riserva Cascina Dardi is a ripe, voluptuous wine that captures the essence of the year in spades. In this vintage, part of the wine was aged in a new cask, which has left the wine with a veneer of new oak and a more modern personality than is the norm here today. Super-ripe black cherries, plums, violets, cloves, lavender and new leather infuse the flamboyant finish. Readers should expect a no holds barred, intense Barolo. All that said, the 2007 is a very young wine that still displays an intense, almost primary expression of fruit.

The 2007 Barolo Riserva Bussia - Cascina Dardi is power and virile, but above all else, it really speaks to a time in the estate's history when French oak barrels were used more heavily than they are today. The 2007 is quite attractive, but it is also hard to taste in this range because it is so stylistically different than the other wines. A host of dark cherry, plum, smoke and licorice notes meld into the expressive finish.
The 2007 Barolo Riserva Bussia Cascina Dardi is currently enjoying a very rewarding and comfortable time in its evolution. Aged only in botte grande, it shows an impressive level of elegance and grace. The 2007 vintage was warm and redolent of ripe cherry fruit. This expression has evolved nicely over the years to show increased elegance and ethereal qualities. I would suggest drinking this bottle within the next ten years.
