Grapes from 70-year-old vines in the Ravera cru, with 40% Michet and 60% Lampia clones Around 40 days on the skins and aged for 24 months in 30-hl and 50-hl Slavonian oak casks, followed by six months in stainless steel. Bottled in August 2018 ‘at full moon’ and will be released May 2019. ‘I want more and more longer bottle ageing before I release the wines. With regard to 2014 they only now start to become interesting.’ 12,000 bottles produced. Lustrous mid ruby. Like the 2015 Cascina Nuova, but amplified. Great lift and focus of ripe red fruit. Ripe palate with zippy, crunchy red fruit and polished tannins. Very long, satisfying and mouth-filling without being heavy, and with intense, perfumed red fruit building up on the finish. (WS)
