Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2014-2015, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2014

Mocha, smoke, tobacco, menthol, cooked fruit and cloves meld together in Alessandria's 2003 Barolo. Brooding to the core, the 2003 is especially dark and implosive. The aromas are already fairly advanced. I would suggest drinking any remaining bottles sooner rather than later. The heat of the vintage is quite apparent in the slightly wilted, forward flavors.

Punteggio 87/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Nov 2007

Good full, healthy red. Exotic red berry liqueur and marzipan on the nose, with a hint of nutty surmaturite Fat, broad and sweet, with rather lush flavors of dried fruits, marzipan, menthol and woodsy underbrush. Nicely concentrated and long, but hugely tannic.

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2013-2018, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2007

The 2003 Barolo, typically one of the region's best normale bottlings, is once again excellent. It is a floral, perfumed Barolo with attractive, ripe red fruit and a weightier personality than is normally the case. Delicate in its own way, it offers notable balance between its ripeness and structural components, with a touch of alcoholic warmth on the finish.
