20% fermented in barrel and 80% in tank. Smells rich and creamy. Chewy, and the oak is giving some breadth and spice here. Firm, bone dry, deliciously textured and long. Gorgeous now but has a long way to go. (JH)

Cask sample. Fragrant with citrus, pear and a touch of blossom. Smooth and creamy on the palate – really gentle and approachable. Deceptively gentle because the length is immense. (JH)
The 2021 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru replaces the Vaillons this year and Billaud's supplier could not deliver - only two barrels-worth. It has a taut and crisp bouquet with green apple and light wild peach aromas. The palate is firm with nice acidity; it's linear and correct with hints of white peach and pear towards the pretty finish. Very fine.
