Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2013-2017, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2013

The 2009 Barolo Gianni Gagliardo is laced with attractive dark red berries, flowers, spices, mint and licorice, all in a supple, juicy style best suited to near-term drinking. There is a lot to like in this racy, perfumed, accessible Barolo from Gianni Gagliardo. All the elements fall into place nicely. The tannins could use a little more time in bottle to soften, but the 2009 is already pretty delicious, especially if given some air.

Mid ruby with medium intensity of fruit. Pleasant and agreeable with a dry finish even if there are no great distinguishing features. (JR)

Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2015-2025, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2013

The 2009 Barolo shows spicy richness balanced by dark fruit and plum. The use of oak has been carefully executed and although you certainly feel its impact in both the intensity of bouquet and the softness of the mouthfeel, those fine characteristics of the Nebbiolo grape are still allowed to shine through. Delicate tones of white pepper, licorice and root beer lift beautifully from the glass. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025. Stefano Gagliardo likes to note that his father, who didn-t drink alcohol, learned to love wine thanks to his mother who came from a family with a long line of winemakers. What became a common love for wine soon blossomed into a winery with 20 hectares of vines spread over 16 sites including La Morra, Barolo, Monforte d-Alba and Serralunga d-Alba.
