The 2019 Meursault Les Chevalières offers up aromas of pear, citrus oil and toasted hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, layered and chiseled, it's rich but lively, with an ample core of fruit and a saline finish.

The 2019 Meursault Les Chevalières comes from a single parcel - this being the penultimate vintage since Clerget pulled up the vines as they are superannuated and produced only three barrels in 2020. Matured in 20% new oak, it has a gentle bouquet with light apple blossom and peach skin aromas, a hint of hazelnut loitering backstage. The palate is well balanced with a light citrus peel note on the entry flanked by orange pith and again, peach skin notes. This is a gentle and caressing Meursault that should be ready to drink after just 12-18 months in bottle.
Last vintage before replanting – very old vines. 50% new oak, of four barrels. Racked and now in tank pre December bottling. Not quite the intensity and conviction of the reds. Round and a bit floral, it lacks a bit of savour – though there is spice and sweetness here. Hint of the sweet shop. (JR)
