Palish crimson. Darker fruited than the Volnay Villages but still mainly red fruit, a little more spicy/peppery and more structured round the tannins. I'd have thought there were some stems in here if I did not know they did 100% destemming. Acidity seems a little less marked than on the Volnay village wine but it finishes finely fresh. It doesn't have great density but then burgundy doesn't have to, does it? (JH)

(from Pitures and Mitans; this cuvee does not include the young vines from Champans, which usually contribute richness to the blend): Bright red. Red fruits, underbrush and smoky minerality on the nose. Bright and mineral-driven on the palate, with a light touch to its red fruit and crushed stone flavors. One really senses the chalky Pitures soil.
