Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2011 from Bachelet-Monnot has quite a reserved bouquet, but it is well defined and subtle, nicely focus and understated. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, saline on the tip of the tongue with good depth and complexity on the saline finish. There is very fine breeding here and it should age well.

Bright, pale lemon-yellow color. Peach and white flowers on the subdued, pure nose. Tightly wound and perfumed, communicating strong inner-mouth tension to its flavors of stone fruits, spices and flowers. Ultimately rounder on the finish than the Referts, but still with a lightly tannic impression that calls for some patience.
Exciting savoury nose with a whiff of reduction. Juicy fruit. Real substance as well as structure. For the long term. (JR)
Bright yellow-green. High-pitched aromas of lime, floral oils and spicy oak. More saline than the Referts but less powerful and rich. In a distinctly dry, classic style, and rather backward today. I'm feeling the oak more here (25% new).
