Pale ruby-garnet. Floral intensity to nutty, earthy spice, dried wild strawberry and clove touches. Beautiful elegance, with lovely, almost silky tannins. Long, floral, potpourri and dried wild-strawberry finish. There's perhaps a bit of brett there that emerges, but on this occasion it's OK. Graceful. (TJ)

The Barbaresco Faset makes its debut in the range in 2013. Intense spice and tobacco notes meld into dark red and cherry fruit in this wonderfully open-knit, expressive Barbaresco. Already quite supple, silky and giving, the 2013 will drink well with minimal cellaring. This is a terrific first vintage from Luca Roagna. Today, the Faset gives the impression it will age at a faster pace than is the norm for Roagna, but, as readers know, these wines can also stay at plateaus of maturity for many years. This small half-hectare plot yielded just 2,000 bottles. Roagna aged the 2013 in a single 15HL cask.
Informazioni sul produttore

Roagna is one of Italy’s finest estates, producing top, single-vineyard Nebbiolos in Barbaresco and Barolo. The estate’s Crichët Pajé Barbaresco is one of the rarest fine wine cuvées in Piedmont with fewer than 2,000 bottles produced each year.
