Note di degustazione
The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru has the same reserve and austerity as the Cailleret, with crushed stone, flint and chalky aromas filtering through the citrus fruit. The well-balanced palate offers white peach and orange zest notes on the entry and a fine line of acidity, even if it does not deliver Cailleret’s unerring tension and pixelation on the finish. Still a damn fine Puligny in the making.

There are two barrels of the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles (Maison Louis Jadot), a youthfully reserved wine that opens in the glass with notes of wheat toast, buttered apples, fresh almonds and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy, with lively acids and a delicately textural profile that I suspect will become richer and fleshier with a bit more time in barrel.

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
