Note di degustazione
The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru comes from red clay soils planted in 1988. This is cut from a different cloth to Lamy's Saint-Aubins: chamomile, white tea and light hazelnuts, almost Meursault-like in style. The palate is tensile on the entry, with fine bitter lemon notes intermixed with peach skin and stem ginger that give the final third an additional dimension. Quite persistent, this is a very serious Chassagne that should age with style.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles reveals aromas of pear, orange oil, white flowers, nutmeg, beeswax and peach. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's a fleshy, generous wine with good energy and precision, even if it can't match the tension and intensity of the top Saint-Aubin cuvées at this address.
