Punteggio 93+/100 · Da bere 2025-2034, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jul 2024

Dark and intense, the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino smolders up from the glass with a burst of crushed stone, wild herbs, black cherries and exotic spice. This is elegant in feel yet energetic, flooding the palate with masses of mineral-laced red and black fruits. Grippy tannins mount toward the close. The 2021 tapers off with staining length, structured and intense, leaving a pleasantly bitter tinge of licorice and sour citrus. The 2021 is showing beautifully, and while I haven't tasted the Brunello yet, I've already received word that Le Potazzine plans to produce a Riserva from this vintage.

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2025-2033, Eric Guido, Vinous, Dec 2023

The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino is wildly fresh with vivid raspberry, cherry, mint and clove. This flows across the palate with the silkiest of textures contrasted by tart red berries and zesty acids as hints of autumnal spice settle in toward the close. The 2021 finishes concentrated, long and youthfully intense. Grippy tannins promise many years of development. There is simply so much going on here and more to come, yet this newly minted Rosso will require patience to show its best.

Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2023-2029, Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com, Oct 2022

Cask sample. Lustrous crimson. A little closed compared with 2020 and brooding. Supple ripe red fruit with fresh, juicy acidity and lots of coating tannins but they do not overpower the fruit. Great length, balance and freshness and with more substance than 2020. I can see this improving with another year. (WS)

Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2025-2031, Eric Guido, Vinous, Oct 2022

A model of purity, the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino opens slowly, at first showing red plum and dusty rose nuances while coaxing brings violet florals, cedar and crushed stone to the front. This excites the palate with its energetic mix of juicy wild berries and contrasting saline mineral tones, further enhanced by brisk acidity. A citrus and cranberry tension is left to linger, pinching at the cheeks while forcing the mouth to water for more, as a gentle coating of fine tannins is slowly revealed. What a beauty, but do make sure to give this a good decant or cellar over the next five to eight years.
