Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2025-2048, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Aug 2023

This wine sees fruit sourced from one of the most distinctive crus in the appellation that is known for elegant and powerful wines. The organic 2019 Barolo Brunate has power and a good amount of brawn, whereas wines from La Morra tend to be softer and silkier overall. This wine, however, shows dark fruit flavors, pretty chalky mineral definition and fragrant iris. Everything is delivered with nuanced intensity.

Exceptionally good, well balanced, savoury, austere and delicate yet full of flavour, slowly unrolling raspberry and redcurrant fruits, smoked earth, soy, orange, pomegranate, with a moreishly juicy signoff. Set over a single slope between the villages of Barolo and La Morra, this 5.6ha vineyard is on the Place for the first time this March, winemaker Alessandro Ceretto.

The 2019 Barolo Brunate is gorgeous. We have clearly moved from Barbaresco and into Barolo in this tasting. Rich, creamy and inviting, the Brunate possesses gorgeous depth and striking textural resonance. Red fruit, spice, tobacco and cedar open first, followed by a range of savory and floral top notes that extend effortlessly. There's terrific energy and class here.

Lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Youthful, firm, red-fruit nose with peppery tingle and really expanding in the glass. With aeration more aromatic raspberry notes with hints of oatmeal. Has an elegant palate weight and is finely balanced with firm yet ripe tannins. Very youthful and compact on the finish, which reveals a big tannic charge that indicates this needs much more time.
