Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2030-2055, Neal Martin, Oct 2025

The 2021 Montrachet Grand Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a bit of freshly squeezed lime on the nose that tends to dominate the aromatics at first. This ebbs away with aeration, revealing more limestone and crustacea scents. The palate is fresh and, again, quite lime-driven at first, though that dissipates with time in the glass. Fine mineralité , tensile, gaining weight and grip towards the finish. Like Bouchard Père's Montrachet, it needs four to five years to really show its mettle but it certainly has pedigree. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

This has a complex nose of hazelnuts, lemon curd, pie crust, peach pits, pastries and apricots. Sea salt, preserved lemon, and just a touch of white chocolate. Powerful and full-bodied, with focus and tensiom in compact, long and intense layers. Fantastic weight for the vintage. Stays with you. Try from 2024.
