Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2028-2052, Neal Martin, Oct 2025

The 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet, precise and mineral-driven, just what you expect from this noble vineyard. The palate is fresh and vibrant with touches of lemon zest and lime, razor-sharp acidity and an energetic, almost flinty finish that borders on shrillness but thankfully stops short. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

From their 2.5 hectares, the 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru amounts to just nine hectoliters this year, including fruit that usually goes into La Cabotte (there is none this year.) It has a pretty and appealing nose: white peach, yellow plum with a background flintiness. The palate is well balanced with decent concentration, though it is missing tension. It feels a bit flat compared to previous vintages. Needs more energy, more adrenalin pumping through its veins.

Including the vines that are normally bottled separately as La Cabotte, Bouchard's 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of lemon oil, nutmeg and crisp stone fruits. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's satiny and vibrant, with lively acids and a long, saline finish.
