2018 Volnay Clos de la Rougeotte

The 2018 Volnay Clos de la Rougeotte 1er Cru shows just a very small reduction on the nose. Attractive brambly red fruit lie behind it, with touches of autumn leaf and black tea. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, orange rind and a pinch of black pepper. It fans out gently towards the finish with minimum fuss. Perfect to drink now, but it will give another decade of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
