2020 Puligny Montrachet Les Pucelles

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1er Cru initially has a feisty nose that lacks the restraint of Chartron's Pucelles. There is some reduction here that needs to be addressed with bottle maturity. Light fennel and lanolin notes emerge with time. It's difficult to make this out, but after 20 minutes, that terroir begins to seep through. The palate is well =-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. It's fresh with plenty of lime and citrus fruit, with just the right amount of bitterness and salinity to tempt you back for more. Patience required. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
