The organic Punset 2015 Barbaresco shows dried aromas of peanut husk and dried chestnut with little fruit to back it up. This aged, warm-vintage Barbaresco displays an austere and powdery Nebbiolo character with tar, licorice and balsam herb. The finish has a touch of astringency.

Lustrous mid ruby with bricky rim. Gorgeous nose of minerals, cherry and wild strawberry and with an undertow of dark earth. Still compact and tight and a little embryonic on the palate with the youthful fruit framed in tightly knit, chewy tannins. Very long and precise but still too young. A proper grand cru. (WS)
