Note di degustazione
Bright red-ruby. Very dark but sweet scents of black fruits, licorice and bitter chocolate. The sweetest and supplest of these 2016s to this point, saturating the palate with dark berry and savory mineral flavors--although Boillot noted that he finds it a bit less mineral than usual. Elegant, fine-grained, horizontal wine with a long, fairly thick finish featuring very suave tannins. As pliant as this wine is today, it has the medicinal reserve to evolve gracefully in the cellar.

The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets was less affected by the frost than the Bouillards and there are two barrels this year. I love the nose here, a mixture of red fruit and black, very fine delineation and impressive mineral tension. The palate is medium-bodied with a confit-like entry, hints of fig and dates infusing the red fruit, quite dense in the mouth with a firm, slightly grippy yet focused finish. This comes recommended, one of the picks from Louis Boillot.
