La Morra. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Savoury minerally nose with hints of old leather. Generous dose of succulent fruit that still needs to open up. Polished tannins. Very long, satisfying and embracing. (WS)

A warm nose of candied berries and dried flowers that follow through to a full body with chewy tannins that are slightly dry, but thereâs plenty of fruit to back it up. Give it three or four years to begin to soften. Try after 2024.
With gold background lettering on its front label, the Enzo Boglietti 2017 Barolo Brunate is slightly more accessible and open compared to the other wines in this series of six Barolos. The bouquet shows quite a few elements that you don't get in the other wines, including an especially distinctive hint of crushed mint or garden herb that only appears here. To those aromas I would add cassis, crushed flower and smoky spice. Production is a limited 2,580 bottles.
Bricky ruby. Smells sweet like the Arione with a lovely herbal Chinato-like lift. Stony/mineral complexity. Super-fine chalk-dust texture. Lovely freshness and harmony but perhaps slightly lean on the finish. (JH)
