2020 Puligny Montrachet Les Folatieres

The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru does not deliver the complexity that I was hoping for, but it is definitely well-defined. Candied orange peel scents emerge with time, though it never fully clicks into fifth gear. The palate is well-balanced with a touch of sour lemon, orange rind and lanolin. There is plenty of extract in this Les Folatières. It's spicy towards the finish. This actually grows in charm with acquaintance. Maybe it just needs more precision and mineralité , but that develops with time in the glass. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
