2020 Chevalier Montrachet

Note di degustazione
The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a complex bouquet, again, with mainly yellow fruit, honeysuckle and lanolin notes, perhaps a little more evolved than I would like at this early stage in its life. The palate is slightly honeyed on the entry, which is powerful but needs more acidity on the finish. As such, it just lacks the flair and the complexity you would expect from a Chevalier-Montrachet. This is a disappointing showing after it shone from barrel, and I will defer scoring it based on this bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet with tightly wound green apple and wet limestone aromas. The palate is well balanced with fine depth on the entry, although I find that the Bienvenue has a little more finesse and tension on the finish. Maybe this is one cuvée where I was expecting more.
