Note di degustazione
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru has a spirituous bouquet that lacks the complexity of its peers and becomes petrolly with time in the glass. The palate is smooth, almost viscous in texture, implying some botrytised fruit, not so much tropical in style, but it embraces the more exotic aspects of the growing season. This is fairly seductive and appeals to those seeking more hedonistic Puligny in this vintage. It has a good length, but I must be convinced about its complexity. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

One of the more reserved wines on the day of my tasting was the 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive wine evocative of citrus zest, struck matches, white flowers and crisp green orchard fruit. Tightly wound but intensely flavored, it concludes with a chalky finish.
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru is more floral on the nose than its peers, yellow flowers, jasmine and a touch of Chinese white tea intermingling with the citrus fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine acidity, a little more tension and salinity than the Clos de la Garenne, cohesive with traces of white peach on the finish. Delicious. Closure: Diam

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
