The 2017 Barbaresco is a bit more concentrated and more fruit-forward, with some notes of kirsch and licorice. Medium to full in its fruit profile, with generous black raspberry, turned soil, and a long finish, it is a lovely wine, with an approachable nature that is drinking well right now. Drink 2023-2040. As one of the most important and quality-minded co-operatives in the world, Produttori del Barbaresco is currently composed of 51 growers across Barbaresco. Founded in 1894 by Domizio Cavazza, the headmaster of the Royal Enological School of Alba, it was originally a collection of nine growers. Today the operations are managed by Aldo Vacca, who was formerly the assistant to Angelo Gaja for 15 years.

Earthy, dried fruit on the nose. Medium body with high but fine-grain tannin giving plenty to chew on. Fragrant and expressive, while still retaining that powerful, stern structure. A great example. (RH)
Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Lifted sour-cherry and raspberry nose. Elegant raspberry fruit palate which has a medium-weight feel to it and coating tannins. Long and still youthful. Promising. (WS)
