2017 Volnay Caillerets

The 2017 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru is 100% de-stemmed since Thomas Bouley does not see this as a parcel of young vines that benefit from stem addition. He also sees this vineyard improving as the vines gain age. It has a crisp, backward bouquet with undergrowth and chalk suffusing the black fruit - quite transparent and detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very well balanced and rather Pommard-like, slightly chalky with a racy, slightly lively finish that leaves the tongue tingling.
