2017 Chassagne Montrachet La Romanee

(this wine had been sulfited three weeks prior to my visit): Musky aromas of lemon and rock. Dense, fine-grained and thick, delivering superb intensity and lift to its flavors of lemon confiture and minerals. This is like chewing on crushed grapes. Finishes with outstanding mounting length. Cournut finds the Grandes Ruchottes more vibrant than this wine but both samples went straight to my third eye. As with the Grandes Ruchottes, Cournut has three barrels of this wine, two of them new.
