Note di degustazione
The 2018 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru was cropped at 50hl/ha and spends 12–15 months on the lees. This has a slightly Germanic, almost petrolly nose. The palate is spicy on the entry, a little bitter, and does not quite possess the same harmony on the finish as Billaud’s other cuvées. I must admit that I could not work out this Montmains and will defer scoring for now.

Aromas of minty pear and crisp green apple mingle with hints of spring blossom and white peach, introducing the 2018 Chablis 1er Cru Montmains, a medium to full-bodied, elegantly ample wine that's vibrant and fine-boned, with a satiny attack and a delicate core of fruit.
The 2018 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is delicate and open-knit, with pretty floral overtones that add lift. Orchard fruit, wild flowers and light tropical accents all grace this mid-weight, creamy Chablis. Soft contours and impeccable balance add to its considerable charms.
A much more floral-inflected though riper nose speaks of spice, poached pear and somewhat less obvious Chablis character. Happily there is better Chablis character on the palate of the medium-bodied flavors that also possess very good volume along with a fine bead of minerality that really comes up on the youthfully austere and bitter lemon-suffused finale. 2024+
