2013 Barolo d'Roul

The 2013 Barolo is a very pretty entry-level offering from Rocche dei Manzoni. Orange peel, rose petal, dried tobacco, French oak and spice give the wine an exotic flourish that is quite appealing. Supple and layered on the palate, with terrific overall balance, the 2013 has much to recommend it. My only real quibble here is the noticeable French oak, although time in the glass does help diffuse some of the overt oakiness.
