The 2017 Saint-Aubin La Chatenière 1er Cru has definitely improved since its so-so showing from barrel. It has attained the precision of the En Remilly, with almost as much mineralité, while the palate has a certain athleticism to it, expanding wonderfully toward the persistent, sapid finish. Excellent. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

The 2017 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru La Chatenière is showing beautifully, surpassing its performance from barrel. Unwinding in the glass with scents of white flowers, crisp green apple and oyster shell, it's medium to full-bodied, chalky and nicely concentrated, with lively acids and a long, saline finish.
The 2017 Saint-Aubin La Chatenières 1er Cru now comes from a single parcel whereas before it came from two, the other now farmed by Joseph Colin. It maybe just needs a little more vigour and attack on the nose. The palate combines the 20% new oak nicely here, clean and precise, certainly one of the most elegant Premier Crus from the domaine , but I would like to see a little more matière on the finish.
