Note di degustazione
The 2014 Barbaresco Asili is a little shy or subdued in terms of its aromatic intensity when you first approach the glass. It does open soon enough, and when it does, the wine shows slightly sweet or ripe notes of dried raspberry and strawberry. This primary intensity adds power and depth to this carefully balanced Nebbiolo.

The 2014 Barbaresco Asili is silky, perfumed and light on its feet, with all of its elements very nicely balanced. Of the Chiarlo wines I tasted, the Asili still appears to be a work in progress. Specifically, it would be nice to see a little more vineyard signatures. In the 2014, the flavors are a bit dark and heavy, with considerable oak influence that also adds creaminess and texture. Even so, the Asili is another Chiarlo wine that appears to be moving in the right direction.
Cask sample, tasted blind. Barbaresco. Maturing ruby with bricky rim. Cool, herbal nose followed by a fragrant palate with soft herbal fruit. A tiny bit hollow on the finish, or perhaps things are still to come? (WS)
