Note di degustazione
Porro's 2004 Barolo Vigna Lazzairasco reveals greater depth, definition and richness in its aromas and flavors than the Santa Caterina. This deeply-layered Barolo possesses the hallmark Serralunga notes of tar, menthol, licorice and dark fruit. The wine's concentration balances the firm tannins nicely. Though not a showstopper today, this wine has all of the ingredients to develop into a gem with bottle age.

Guido Porro, a small artisan producer based in Serralunga, is a terrific source for traditionally-made Barolos that remain exceptionally well-priced. I was very impressed with the 2004s when I tasted them from cask, and they are just as good now that they are in bottle. Importer: Kermit Lynch, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524-1524
