Punteggio 96/100 · Da bere 2025-2050, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020

Unfortunately, there are a mere 25 cases of the 2017 Montrachet Grand Cru, but readers lucky enough to secure a bottle or two are in for a treat. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of peach, citrus blossom, honeycomb, warm bread and anise, it's full-bodied, layered and immensely enveloping, its satiny and caressing attack segueing into a deep, concentrated core. Long and complete, this is a brilliant rendition of this great vineyard. Readers should note that, like the Bâtard, this derives from a different source from the Girardin Montrachets of yesteryear.

Punteggio 92-94/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2018

(there's just a single 2015 Seguin-Moreau barrel of this juice, which was vinified by Girardin): Aromas of white pepper, menthol and spicy oak, with some stone fruits in the deep background. Very concentrated and brooding, if without quite the grip and sheer éclat of the Chevalier-Montrachet. A powerful but very backward style, suggesting some peachy ripeness but hiding more than it's showing today. And less mineral in character than the Chevalier, which would appear to hold out greater potential. The yield here was about 40 hectoliters per hectare, according to Morin.
