The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village shows its time in wood more than Pernot's other wines this year, its bouquet of waxy citrus fruit and ripe green apple generously inflected with vanilla pod and toast. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny textured and elegant, with a fleshy core of succulent fruit and an open-knit profile.
(Pernot made almost 60 hectoliters per hectare of this village wine from his 6.5 hectares): Pure aromas and flavors of stone fruits, citrus blossom and white flowers, with a hint of minerality. Juicy, dry and classic, conveying noteworthy inner-mouth lift and harmonious acidity. As in so many past vintages, this should turn out to be an excellent village wine.
