That intense liquorice scent of Bruno Colin wines! Zesty and sculpted and refined. Immediate pleasure. Just a tad cardboardy on the end but overall a very satisfying drink with masses of juice and green-fruit flavours. Neat. And expensive. But there is finish and undertow. (JR)

Pear, menthol and white flowers on the nose, plus a hint of white pepper. Juicy and sappy but slightly hard-edged; no shortage of texture here but a bit lemony and austere. This, too, appears to be stunted by the bottling. I suspect it's better than it's showing today.
Mix of old and young vines, planted 2003 and 1959. Tank sample. Deep golden straw. Strong perfume and very bright fruit. Big and bold – less chiselled than usual. Perhaps just a little formless with a sour note on the end. Slightly bitter note on the medium-persistence end. (JR)
(Colin produced about 40 hectoliters here, as these vines were less affected by the frost): Pale yellow. Lemon zest, mint and herbs on the nose; smells a bit skinny. Juicy and penetrating but a bit streamlined and lacking in body. Finishes dry and uncompromising, with good energy and length, but lacks sweetness and stuffing. I don't find enough material here to support cellaring.
