Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2014-2040, Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com, May 2014

Palish ruby with broad bricky rim. Balsamic more than fruity and really minerally. Very fine and ripe and sweet on the palate but with an energetic dose of acidity that melts into the finish. Hardly any maturation. Tannic but polished and fresh. Wonderful, elegant palate weight. Very, very long. (WS)

Punteggio 17.5/20 · Da bere 2011-2026, Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com, May 2011

Brilliant, medium ruby with orange rim. Very fine perfumed nose with hints of iron and graphite. Very elegant palate, with fine powdery but muscular tannic structure. Finely perfumed finish, indicating there is more to come. Beautiful supporting acidity. (WS)

Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2013-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2008

The 2004 Barolo Cannubi reveals the telltale aromas of this site, Barolo's most historic vineyard. The fruit is surprisingly dark for Cannubi and there are hints of slight over-ripeness, yet the finely-textured tannins convey an impression of graceful elegance that is the hallmark of this vintage. Already quite approachable, this fine Barolo should continue to drink well for another decade, and perhaps longer.

Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. This is a very strong set of Barolos from Brezza, a producer who has ratcheted up their quality significantly over the last few years. The wines are aged in cask, which results in a traditional expression of Nebbiolo aromas and flavors that requires at least a few years of bottle age to emerge. A recent bottle of the estate’s 1978 Barolo Riserva Speciale was indeed quite special. Importer: An Acid Inc. Selection for Angels' Share Wines, Brooklyn, NY; tel. (917) 687-4848
