Developing attractive secondary aromas. Quite a taut, edgy nose – backed up by very fine tannins. Such vibrant acidity picks this wine up and hauls it along. (AC)

Pale-medium garnet. Delightful rose-petal perfume jumps out of the glass, with smoky tar and background nutty oak. Fresh and dried red cherry, smoky tar, balsamic and potpourri. Abundant, quite ripe tannins that are beginning to resolve. Good length. This is more like it! QGV (TJ)
The 2013 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata shows impressive balance between its elegant side and its powerful inner core. The wine is lean and complete in terms of texture, but it fleshes out further just as soon as it hits the palate. It is aged in Slavonian oak for 24 months, with an extra 12 months in the bottle.
Rocche Costamagna's 2013 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a very pretty, expressive wine. Silky and open-knit, the 2013 is one of the more accessible wines readers will find in this vintage. What seems to come through most is the refined, gracious style that defines the best wines from Rocche dell'Annunziata, one of Barolo's unquestioned grands crus . The 2013 should drink well for another decade, perhaps more.
