Punteggio 95/100 · Da bere 2023-2038, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017

The 2013 Barolo Carobric is a wine with a bright future, but is going to need at least a few years to come together. Today, the tannins are super imposing and yet there is an underlying sweetness to the fruit that is impossible to miss. Readers will have to be patient, but the 2013 Carobric is extremely promising. I especially like the freshness and energy here. Moreover, the Carobric has a track record of developing beautifully in bottle. Put simply, the 2013 is a terrific Carobric in the making. As always, Carobric is a blend of fruit from Cannubi, Rocche (Castiglione Falletto) and Bric del Fiasc. The blend of grapes from various sites contributes to the wine’s super-classic feel, especially in this vintage.

The 2013 Barolo Carobric represents a blend of fruit from three sites: Rocche di Castiglione, Cannubi and Bric dël Fiasc. To my palate, this wine really stood out as different from the other wines in the Scavino portfolio. There is a rougher or greener note here that I did not encounter in the others. The wine shows a youthful and nervous personality overall with dark fruit and grilled rosemary.

A blend from grapes from Rocche di Castiglione, Cannubi and Fiasco (Castiglione Falletto). Cardinal red with narrow orange rim. Fine, concentrated nose. Super-elegant palate with sandpaper-like tannins and just a touch of supporting oak. Lifted acidity and tannic impact on the finish. Succulent and then a little bitter and tannic. Needs time. (WS)

Very fresh and creamy on the nose. The palate is full of strawberries and fresh roses. Medium to full body and ultra-fine tannins that are integrated and polished. Lightly chewy on the finish. Give it three to four years to soften. Jan 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
