The 2015 Chassagne Montrachet Villages 1Er Cru Macherelles is a beautiful effort from Jacques and Francois Carillon, who created their own estate roughly 10 years ago. Clean and classic on the nose, with plenty of stone fruits, a hint of pineapple, spice, crushed rocks, and a touch of brioche, this terrific 2015 hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, integrated acidity, excellent purity, and a clean finish. Again, it has terrific purity and is a beautiful wine.

Cask sample. Some green fruit on the nose. Lots of freshness but with some sweet fruit underneath. A little light chewiness. Well constituted. (JR)
(from a mix of 13- and 40+-year-old vines): Bright yellow. Reticent nose hints at lemon drop and kumquat. Supple fruit and soil flavors show moderate nuance but good balance owing to penetrating acidity. Finishes with good breadth and energy. This wine shows little sign of hydric stress but nonetheless will need time to expand.
