There's a lot of power and intensity that lifts off the 2012 Barolo Margheria. This is a confident and proud expression of Nebbiolo that boasts a frank and upfront array of accessible aromas. Blackberries and dried cherries are followed by spice, tar and crushed stone. There's a pretty tail of powdered licorice on the long finish.

Serralunga d’Alba. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Ripe fruit with stony notes. Concentrated and mouth-filling with bags of grainy tannins on the finish. Lots of potential. (WS)
The 2012 Barolo Margheria is lifted and precise, with a real sense of crystalline purity. A host of floral and savory notes open up in the glass. The 2012 is an especially refined, polished Serralunga Barolo long on class. Today the flavors are bright and nicely articulated throughout. The long, creamy finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal.
Fermented in cement tanks with a total of three weeks of skin maceration. Aged for 24 months in large oak casks. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Exciting, savoury and minerally nose. Pretty cherry fruit on the palate, while the sandy tannins become more dramatic on the finish. Wonderful balance and then lots to chew on, but remains really elegant. (WS)
