Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2019-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts has a richer bouquet than its peers with light honeyed tones, citrus lemon and apple blossom scents. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, just a touch of bitterness here but that soon dissipates and the finish feels energetic if not quite delivering the length you would expect. Given the producer, I suspect that this will repay 3-4 years in bottle and merit a higher evaluation down the line. Tasted May 2016.

0.22 ha. Milder than the Meursaults, but still racy and with extreme acidity. This needs lots of time. Piercing! Eye opening. (JR)

(12.3% alcohol; production here was just 16 hectoliters per hectare): Pale yellow. Fresh peach lifted by brown spices on the nose. A juicy, slightly musky fruit bomb in the mouth, with pure lemon and peach flavors accented by ginger and saline minerality. Boasts enticing sweetness, but the pure, long finish also displays terrific grip. Ente told me that this wine is carrying a very high 5.6 grams of acidity but it has the stuffing and fruit sweetness to support it.
