Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2017-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Caillerets needed encouragement from the glass, eventually revealing attractive walnut-tinged aromas flanked by Japanese yellow plum and estuarine scents. The palate is well balanced with a slightly malic finish, modest weight in the mouth but dispensing with some of its initial complexity on the slightly predictable finish. Hopefully it will address this with bottle age. Tasted May 2016.

Aromas of peach and fresh apricot convey an impression of sweetness. Dense and fleshy but closed in the mouth, delivering pure wet-stone minerality in a rather austere package. Like the young 2014, this will need time in bottle to express itself.

Both creamy and stony on the nose. Clean, green fruited and a fine, light grip in the texture. Almost sour in its freshness but lots of unfurling pleasure. (JH)

Pale bright yellow. Slightly reduced aromas of lemon, lime, white flowers and stone. Less fleshy and more saline than the Clos Saint-Marc; also much less evolved today. Bright citrus and lemon flavors show outstanding energy on the rising finish, but this youthfully closed wine will need at least a few years of cellaring.
